On June 29, 2026, a capsule-laying ceremony was held to mark the start of construction of the new administrative building for the Chon-Alai District State Archive.
The ceremony was attended by N. Bazarbaeva, Chairperson of the Archives Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic; B. Alaichiev, Head of the Osh Regional Department of the Archives Service; A. Abdirashitov, First Deputy Head of the Chon-Alai District State Administration; B. Bakybekov, Deputy Akim; and representatives of the district’s council of elders.
History of the archive
Chon-Alai District was established as an independent district under Resolution No. 764-ХП dated February 27, 1992.
Following the establishment of the district, the Chon-Alai District Archives Department was created by Order No. 33 dated June 22, 1992. Under Resolution No. 264 dated April 29, 2002, the institution was granted the status of the Chon-Alai District State Archive.
Main objectives
- create modern conditions for the storage of archival documents;
- ensure the safety and preservation of archival materials;
- improve the quality of archival services provided to citizens;
- preserve historical and documentary heritage for future generations;
- improve working conditions for archive employees.
Funding sources
The project is funded by:
- the Archives Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- the Osh Regional Department of the Archives Service;
- the Chon-Alai District Development Fund;
- the Osh Region Development Fund.

Expected results
Once the new building is commissioned:
- appropriate conditions will be created for storing archival documents in accordance with established requirements;
- the risk of damage to or loss of documents will be reduced;
- the quality of archival services provided to citizens will improve;
- working conditions for archive employees will be enhanced;
- opportunities for the reliable preservation of historical heritage for future generations will expand.
